STAGE NAME

So I’ve been contemplating what my stage name could potentially be. And since i already have somewhat of an online presence as a different name, things can get complex.

• i really like Woman of Service. but i feel like it’s a name choice that’s less personal, like how could i shorten that? woman? service? wos? that sucks.
• people know me as Nike or “More-Nike” and for that reason I kinda do and don’t wanna go by my actual name. i love my name and i promise im not ashamed of my culture but dude.
  • there’s a certain anxiety with having to explain how my name is pronounced every interaction. and knowing people will still forget/say it however they want anyways.
  • and i don’t want people to assume they can just call me Nike bc its easier for them. “Nike” came about as a gaming persona and bc gaming was life back then, the people in my life called me that as well. but i don’t want just anyone calling me that yk, especially if i don’t know you.
  • it would be “easy” to just go by my name: something people are already used to calling me but that’s not the easy i want tbh.
  • do you know how many people avoid addressing me directly bc they either cant remember or don’t know how to say my name…Africans included. there are many other struggles I’ll need to face in this life, why not make things a bit easier for myself in that area.
• i think i kinda forced the “savan” thing, like i tried to make it make sense but it just didn’t click. i still want to pull it in somewhere in my world.
• my name is not a secret its not something i am trying to gatekeep, rather i want to protect it.
• stage names are just mad cool. a lot of the people i look up to have em.
• if my full name was more digestible and had less syllables i would def go for it. 4 syllables in my first name alone is a lot to manage.
