When I first joined the Framework community in September, I was scared and I believed that whatever they were offering wouldn’t apply to me. But I remember also praying to God prior to the call, that if it was meant for me, things would add up…and they did. Through the months, I tried my best to put myself out there. Get on calls when I can, schedule 1 on 1s but due to my busy schedule, I couldn’t show up how I’d hoped online. So when the opportunity to go on a retreat came up, I rushed to lock in a spot. I was actually the first to lock in a spot funny enough…with money I did not have LOL.
- Being myself from the jump set me up for real connection. Whether it’s being brutally honest about how I feel or cracking jokes whenever they come to mind, I wanted to make sure that before they knew me as a photographer or a videographer, they knew me as me first.
- If there is one thing I left that retreat with, it was for sure a wishlist. I definitely packed light equipment wise, just because I was scared to lose or break anything but these guys didn’t care at all. They pulled up with bazookas: 20 lbs rigs and telescopes for tripods. And I got to figure out a little bit of how each person achieved those amazing visuals in their work. As always pray for my pockets.
- Another thing that I was reminded of is that I have to be a good steward of the gifts God has given to me. It’s such an immense blessing to have the imagination that I do, and to be around these amazing people, and I feel like sometimes I take it for granted. But I have to actually do something with these ideas and gifts.
I give some more takeaways on my IG, here’s the link…see you there.
